Cristian Peña Concha, Ingeniero Civil Eléctrico, Asesor Senior en Control Automático, 57 años.

Montañista, fotógrafo, ciclismo de montaña, kayac, 4x4 y lectura entre otros. Comencé a los 14 años en la ciudad de Santiago en el deporte de montaña escalando el cerro El Negro, el Plomo, La Paloma, el Altar y muchas otras como andinista federado del Club Andino Horizonte y luego como Director Técnico de Alta Montaña, además de realizar cursos media y alta montaña, escalada en roca, hielo y rescate. Participé en ascensos con los grandes montañistas de ese tiempo y en especial como preseleccionado nacional Everest’83. Realice múltiples y variadas escaladas en los Andes Centrales; en especial la primera ascensión a Pared Norte del Marmolejo y la tercera al cerro Morado por su canaleta de hielo, la arista del San Francisco, El Punta Italia y el cerro Yamakawa, el Retumbadero, los Dientes del Diablo, El Volcán San José y varias más. Mientras estudiaba pertenecí al Club Andino Whechupun y brinde apoyo a la rama de andinismo de la USACH. Tuve la opción de contemplar el Everest desde su campamento base y del Kalapattar, estuve en el Illimani y el Chacaltaya y pude admirar también el Huayna Potosí en Bolivia. Logré estar en la cima de hermosas montañas como en Kilimanjaro en África, el Illiniza Norte, el Cotopaxi y a metros de la cumbre del Chimborazo en Ecuador. Muchas montañas y también muchos intentos y siempre siguiendo la pasión de los montañistas de ir siempre más lejos que tus sueños. Actualmente resido en El Salvador en la Región de Atacama, y como montañista he realizado ascensos en esta zona a más de 60 cumbres sobre los 5.000 mts. muchas de ellas en primera ascensión y en solitario. Travesías por el camino del inca y también aportando con mi experiencia a brigadas de rescate, geólogos y arqueólogos.

My name is Cristian Peña, Chilean, 57 years of age and I am a Electrical Engineer. Mountaineer, photographer, mountain biker, I also enjoy kayaking and reading. I started mountaineering at the age of 14 in Santiago Chile. I climbed the following mountains: El Negro, El Plomo, La Paloma, El Altar and many others as a member of the mountaineering club 'Andino Horizonte' and afterwards as a technical director for high mountaineering for the same club. During this time I also completed training courses in mountaineering, rock and ice climbing as well as mountain rescue. I participated in high ascends with great mountaneers of that time, especially as I was an national Everest '83 preselected climber. I completed multiple and varied climbs in the Andes mountain range especially the first climbing if the north wall of El Marmolejo and the third climb of the El Morado through its ice, from where the San Francisco Glacier forms. Also El Punta Italia and El Yamakawa, El Retumbradero, Los Dientes del Diablo, the San Jose Volcano and many more. Whilst I was studying at university I was part of the mountaneering Andean Club 'Whechupun' and I also provided support for the mountaineer group of the University of Santiago (USACH) I have had the opportunity to contemplate the top of the Everest from its base camp and the top of the Kalapattar, I have also seen the top of the Illimani and the Chacaltaya and I could also admire the Huayna Potosi in Bolivia. I have been able to be at the top of beautiful mountains such as the Kilamanjaro in Africa, the Illiniza North, El Cotopaxi and I was metres away from the top of El Chimborazo in Ecuador. So many mountains and also so many attempts to get to the top is always the passion that us mountaneers have, to always go beyond our own dreams. I currently live in El Salvador in the Atacama region of northern Chile. As a mountaineer I have ascended over 60 mountains over 5000 metres. Many of them on the first attempt and on my own. I have also walked the Camino del Inca in northen Chile and in view of my experience I have provided asistance to rescue operations, to geologists and archaeologists
